Our Global Environmental Sustainability Programme
Kingspan's Planet Passionate initiative aims to achieve twelve objectives by 2030, such as net-zero carbon manufacturing, a 50% reduction in CO₂ intensity from key suppliers, 60% renewable energy usage, solar installations on all facilities, zero landfill waste, 20 recycling programs, and harvest 100 million liters of rainwater. Our share of Kingspan Group targets, sized to our operations. These are the numbers our sites and teams are directly accountable for by 2030.
Energy
55% renewable energy; solar PV at 100% of wholly owned sites; ISO 50001 at all large sites (>5 GWh/year).
Circularity
99% reduction in waste to landfill; 6,000 tonnes of recycled/renewable raw materials used annually; 3 product takeback and recycling schemes.
Water
8 million litres of rainwater harvested annually.
Solar PV Case Study
Planet Passionate in Action
Last year we installed 722 solar panels at our manufacturing site in Lake Forest, Illinois, US.
The installation will significantly offset our need to purchase electricity by directly powering our site equipment, electric vehicle fleet and office operations, allowing us to generate enough energy to be net positive annually.
We are proud to share that this programme is expected to generate 419 MWh of clean, renewable energy every year.
